Phoenix, who's half Texan, recently read Pecos Bill by Steven Kellogg, about a mega-hero from Texas who was raised by coyotes and became the first cattle rancher but first had to tame a rattlesnake and fight down a "critter that was part grizzly, part puma, part gorilla, and part tatantula" and then after roping a long horn with the rattlesnakle turned the Hells Gulch Gang into respectable ranchers. Then he meets the love of his life...Slewfoot Sue. Yeeeehaw!
